Feedback Comments:
Your proposal has a clear introduction and the project outcome is demonstrated consistently well throughout.
Your customer profile and competitor research is good but could be slightly more in-depth - are there any artists exploring a similar concept to you that might be a competitor?
Good amount of research and visual examples throughout the proposal, great logo mock-ups, beauty direction illustrations & film treatments. You might encounter some difficulties filming in Chinatown, particularly if you don’t get permission to film there, and it gets extremely busy. How might you overcome this? Do you have experience filming?
Your work would benefit from proofing in places although I know English isn’t your first language. Overall a strong proposal that demonstrates an extremely thought through concept with a very clear outcome, well done.
After the feedback section with my mentor Sebastiane Hegarty, I understand the improvements that I could make on my fmp proposal and what kind of areas I could develop more on research. Target audience research could explain more in details by analysing competitors which have similar concept, objective and artworks to my project idea. This will help me to get inspirations, think about what I could do better on my project and create more unique designs. I also step back and concern about filming in China Town as it is very busy when every day and it will be hard to do the filming over there. Therefore, I will change my idea and will need to think of another plan to back up this idea.
1 st tutorial:
The initial ideas for my fmp is to create an online exhibition about Chinese culture and modern appearance that includes a 4:30 minutes fashion film, 3 photo shoots, illustrations, behind the scenes photos, descriptions about the project and 3 translations on the website for the viewers to choose to look at the exhibition. However, during the tutorial, my mentor has suggested an interesting idea which fascinates me and is that I could incorporate Chinese cultures with aspects of Surrealism. This idea has changed my mind because I think if I combine Chinese culture with Surrealism, it will give me opportunities to develop innovative and unique designs for my project. At the moment, my thoughts on Surrealism is something that looks eerie, think out of the box and creative. But from now on, I am going to do more research in order to develop my own interpretation and understand the system of Surrealism. I will be looking at different areas such as books, artworks, photography, film, and fashion styles, etc to give me more understanding about Chinese culture and surrealism. On the other hand, I have discussed with my mentor about how long the fashion film will be as I have changed my mind after the submission of the proposal. The reason I change my idea into a 2-minute film is because I want to create a short fashion film and I think 2 minutes would be a good amount of time to demonstrate my idea to the audience.
Next step...
Before the next tutorial, I will need to do more research and update my reflective journal (research & developments).
